Q: Which is better, Harvia, HUUM or Saunum?

It depends on the room and your electrical service. In the manuals we checked, HUUM's Drop comes in 4.5, 6, 7.5 and 9 kW for rooms from 106 to 460 cubic feet; Harvia's Spirit in 6 and 8 kW for 177 to 431 cubic feet; and Saunum's Air in about 4.8, 6.4 and 9.6 kW for 106 to 424 cubic feet. Saunum lists UL 875 and CSA certification; HUUM's US manual cites the European EN 60335-2-53 standard.

Q: Do Harvia, HUUM and Saunum heaters need the same breaker?

No. For a roughly 6 kW heater, HUUM specifies a 30 amp breaker for its 25 amp Drop 6, while Saunum specifies 40 amps for its 26.7 amp Air 7. The 125 percent code rule would put both at 35 amps or more. Harvia's manual gives the current but not a breaker size.
