What will a sauna cost, all-in?

Short answer · how much does a sauna cost to install

The sauna is only part of it. A $8,140 outdoor sauna (the SaunaLife Model E8GB Ergo-Series 6-Person Traditional Outdoor Barrel Sauna with Full-Glass Front, the median in our index) comes to about $9,662–$18,642 installed at national rates: freight, a concrete pad, pro assembly, a 240 V circuit and trenching to the yard. A panel upgrade, if needed, adds $1,300–$3,000. Your metro changes labor and permit costs.

No. 3Questions

Wiring, permits, the pad.

How much does it cost to wire a sauna?

A dedicated 240 V circuit near the panel typically runs $250–$900. A detached outdoor sauna adds trenching and underground wire, about $600–$2,100; a full panel upgrade, if needed, is usually $1,300–$3,000 (a subpanel is often cheaper). Local labor rates move all of these.

Do you need a permit for a backyard sauna?

Usually for the wiring, often for the building. Many cities exempt small sheds (under 200 ft² in Minneapolis and Denver, 120 ft² in Seattle and New York City, 150 ft² in Chicago), but the 240 V circuit typically still needs an electrical permit. Pick your metro in the calculator for the published fees.

How much does a sauna foundation cost?

For a 36–80 ft² footprint: compacted gravel pad $180–$720; paver pad $783–$2,279; concrete slab, 4 in. $372–$1,012; concrete piers / deck footings $800–$3,600; wood deck / platform $1,080–$4,800.
